Caffeinated RGB gamer noodles now exist, and I’m getting indigestion just thinking about them-
First reported by CNN, Nissin’s Cup Noodles have decided, against all good sense, to try and corner the energy drink market by making custom RGB gamer noodles—which are caffeinated, because of course they are.
A news release reads: “Nissin Foods is launching a new ‘gamer-friendly’ product for the first time in its history from its flagship brands Cup Noodles and Nissin Curry Meshi.” I don’t know if I pick up ‘friendly’ vibes from these things, though they are promised to be “soup-free” so you don’t get your sticky, caffeinated gamer hands all over your pro setup.
The release also promised these unholy vessels are “the strongest buff meshi”—meshi being a general term for a meal of cooked rice. I might just be outing my occasional stomach issues here, but I cannot think of a stronger debuff than the sheer indigestion of slamming a cup noodle dosed with caffeine at 3AM. But I’m not a visionary food pioneer like the dark sorcerers of Nissin Foods, so …

It’s just getting silly now- Microsoft inks 10-year deal to bring Activision games to a UK mobile phone network-
Someone needs to wrestle the fountain pen out of Phil Spencer’s hand. The Xbox boss just can’t stop inking ten-year deals to bring Activision games to different platforms (in the event its acquisition goes through): He’s signed them with Nintendo, Nvidia, Boosteroid and Ubitus (I hadn’t heard of them before they made the deal either), and has offered them to Sony and Steam, neither of which were interested.
Well, add another contract to the pile, because while we weren’t looking, Phil went out and signed another ten-year commitment to EE, one of the UK’s ‘Big Four’ mobile phone networks (and an internet service provider, too). The deal was announced by Spencer in a tweet posted earlier today.
The deal apparently pertains to “cloud gaming,” but eagle-eyed readers will spot that the statement is otherwise totally devoid of detail about what it means to bring “PC games built by Activision Blizzard” to the company responsible for my spotty 5G connection.
EE…
Just 2 weeks before its early access release, Life By You is delayed again, this time without a new date-
In what feels a bit like a cold shower for life sim players who’d been looking forward to the first major competitor to The Sims launching this summer, Life By You has been delayed again. The life sim led by former Sims studio head Rod Humble will not be launching into early access on June 4 as planned and has not chosen a new release date.
“This was not an easy decision, especially since we understand the anticipation and excitement that many players have for the game,” Paradox Interactive said in its announcement. “However, we believe that additional development time is needed.
“While we would have preferred to commit to a new release window, we believe it is more prudent to hold off while we plan ahead, rather than committing to a new date that we cannot be certain to meet.”
This isn’t the first time that Life By You has been delayed. It was originally expected in September 2023, but was delayed to March 2024, and then to June 4. Now, just two weeks ahead of tha…
Mega streamer Kai Cenat is streaming Bloodborne to call attention to fan demand for a PC port- ‘PlayStation, FromSoft, this is one of the most highly requested games for a remaster and a PC version’-
After getting super into Elden Ring and even pulling a marathon monster stream of Shadow of the Erdtree that included a professional therapist talking him through his difficulties with the final boss, streaming star Kai Cenat is checking out the rest of FromSoftware’s back catalogue on stream. But Cenat isn’t just playing the beloved 2015 PS4 exclusive, Bloodborne for his own benefit—he’s hoping his streams might help bring attention to the demand for a remaster and/or PC port.
“I don’t think I have the power to do that,” Cenat said in response to a chat question about him somehow making it happen. The clip was shared to X, “The Everything App” by content creator Chito Gaming. “But I definitely have the power to bring attention to a topic within the Souls community.
“I feel like the developers have watched my every move when it came to me playing these games. So the least that I can do is try to push the narrative for something to happen.”
Cenat then a…
Overwatch 2 director admits the overwhelming power of DPS heroes ‘may be pushed a bit too far’, details new patch to fix that-
Overwatch 2’s latest season dramatically changed how the game is played by giving DPS heroes the ability to reduce the healing their enemies receive. The ripple effects from this change left many tanks and support heroes struggling to stay alive.
In a blog post reflecting on the changes, game director Aaron Keller admitted that the amount of power it gave DPS heroes “may be pushed a bit too far.” “There can be moments where it feels a bit too dangerous, even as a tank, to expose yourself, or where your health can burn down quicker than expected while being healed,” he said.
Next week, the mid-season patch will drop the healing reduction caused by DPS heroes from 20% to 15% and additional changes to “makes sure that all heroes feel viable.”
Those changes will include:
- A boost to Ana’s healing grenade to protect herself while she heals from afar
- Increased healing output from Lifeweaver to make up for his lack of offensive abilities
- A …
Make famous VTubers fight in this surprise Steam hit-
Idol Showdown bills itself on Steam as “the definitive fan-made hololive fighting game experience,” and that might not be overselling it. Four days after launch, it remains very near the top of Steam’s “new and trending” Fighting and Martial Arts game chart, and has earned a “very positive” rating across nearly 2,500 user reviews. And if you have no idea what a “hololive fighting game experience” is, don’t be alarmed, because I am about to explain.
First things first: VTubers, or Virtual YouTubers, are essentially streamers who use computer-generated avatars in place of their real-world faces and bodies during their streams. Using a webcam and specialized software, these avatars are able to move, speak, and express emotion much as a regular person would—it’s basically like wearing a fully animated mask on stream. There are a lot of very popular VTubers out there, and Japan-based hololive productions—stylized as all lower-case, thus the punctuation on the Steam page…
Razer’s new soundbar is tracking my head in the name of better audio-
The new Razer Leviathan V2 Pro soundbar has just been announced at CES 2023, and it’s promising an AI-powered head tracking beamforming audio solution for the desktop. It all sounds pretty techno-forward, but thankfully I’ve had the opportunity to try it out at home over the past few weeks to see if it’s the real deal or not.
If you don’t already know, beamforming is when a signal is directed at something to better improve the signal strength and quality. It’s not just an audio thing, there are loads of uses for beamforming in regards to wireless signals, but that’s what Razer is using it for with the new Leviathan V2 Pro. Basically, the system will determine where you are and, through some neural network computing, beam the audio signal directly at your ears.
To do this, the Leviathan V2 Pro comes with a small infrared sensor array, located in the middle of the unit. The data from which is then fired through a neural network processor to sense where a user is, or more s…
Skull and Bones shows off new gameplay, and it’s still not very impressive-
Just two days after delaying Skull and Bones yet again, this time into early 2023-24, Ubisoft has posted a new developer stream showcasing the oft-delayed pirate adventure’s “narrative gameplay.” The video takes players through an “investigation,” described by narrative director Joel Jannise as “a way to tell a story through a series of steps.”
“The player follows a trail of something that they think is going to be interesting and likely going to lead to some kind of treasure or some kind of score,” Janisse explains in the video. “But it also tells a story about our factions and our world, and we do that by finding, for example, messages in bottles, scraps of lost journals, sometimes talking to different characters in the world, and through that we’re able to tell a story.”
The investigation seen in the video is centered on a beef between a brother and sister, both of whom believe they’re the proper heir to the throne of a small kingdom. You, as a pirate, don’t par…
